Flight prices are slightly more expensive compared to last week’s Mango Happy Day Sale (round about R20) as the travel dates have been extended by a month to include the school holiday period. There are many reasons to visit Cape Town. One of them is definitely ASIAN FOOD. The city has some of the best Asian food outlets on the African continent. All the reason to grab a flight to the Mother City this weekend for some delicious sushi, dim sum or noodles.
We can vouch for the restaurants below (yes, all of them) as we love Asian food here at the GrabaFlight offices.
#1 … Kitima Restaurant
Probably the best Asian restaurant on the continent. Has a great setting in Hout Bay with friendly staff and menu with a lot of delicious treats and courses to choose from. Expect to spend about R300 to R350 for 2 people. The one down side is that you have to book well in advance. If you are lucky (and willing to wait and be patient) you might be able to snatch a table that was cancelled.
#2 … Willoughby & Co
A must visit restaurant when you are at the Waterfront for some shopping. Located in the mall and quite low key in its appearance (read, looks like a food court), however don’t be fooled. Willoughby serves one of the best sushi’s in town. And that’s something, with so many sushi places popping up. You have to be ready to spend at least R300 for 2 people and you might have to stand in a long line waiting for a table .
#3 … Nuri Sushi Factory
Relatively new in the CBD of Cape Town, but already a permanent spot in our hearts! Probably the best quality vs. price combination in South Africa. You are able to eat a very very good meal for around R200 for 2 people. The sushi big and over the top, and comes in many unique combinations that you normally don’t get from your average sushi restaurant. The service is quick which makes it a good place to grab your lunch while on the go.
#4 … South China Dim Sum Bar
Are you all about the Dim Sum? Well then we’ve got a spot for you to try. The South China Dim Sum Bar located in Long Street, smack in the middle of the CBD. A great place to go if you are doing some shopping in town or if you simply bar hopping and really hungry! The restaurant serves outstanding Dim Sum for a good price. You will spend about R150 for 2 people.
#5 … Saigon
We can’t always stuff ourselves with sushi, so every now and then we mix things up and go for some food from Saigon (spring rolls please!). With some lovely noodle or rice dishes, the perfect setting for a nice get together with friends or an evening out with your partner. Prices are roughly R300 for 2 people. You can find Saigon up Kloof Street in Gardens.
