Mango Happy Day Sale 2 September

The best way to celebrate spring with Mango Airlines, is to take advantage of the Mango Happy Day Sale! Prices start from R555* on selected flights until the 31st of October 2015, making this a truly great special as you can book flights that include the October school holiday week.

Flight prices are slightly more expensive compared to last week’s Mango Happy Day Sale (round about R20) as the travel dates have been extended by a month to include the school holiday period. We recommend the Lanseria to Cape Town flights from a very affordable R699*, so make sure you take advantage of this special while planning your October holiday break to Cape Town.

Comparing baggage policies for all South African flights

Comparing baggage policies

Baggage, everybody needs it but you can’t always bring it. Well for free at least. A topic not clear to everybody and we receive a lot of questions about it. How much luggage can I bring on my flight? That’s why we are writing this blog, comparing baggage policies across all South African airlines that we have available in our flight booking tool.

Mango Airlines
Economy class carry-ons are restricted to a single piece with a maximum weight of 7 kg and within specified dimensions (36 cm x 23 cm x 56 cm), together with either a handbag and/or a slimline laptop bag.

Your checked in luggage cannot exceed 20kg, but it can be divided over more than one piece.

Kulula
Your kulula flight entitles you to one free checked bag weighing up to 20kg and one piece of hand baggage weighing up to 7kg plus a slimline laptop bag or small handbag.

South African Airways
At SAA your checked in baggage restrictions are 32kg if you are in business class and 23kg if you are in economy class. For hand luggage you may bring 2 pieces of 8kg if you are in business class and 1 piece of 8kg in economy. Your hand luggage must meet the following dimensions 56cm (L) 36cm (W) 23cm (H).

SkyWise
f you are an adult travelling on your own, you are allowed TWO bags (including sporting equipment) up to 20kg in total, as checked in baggage. Your hand luggage may not exceed 7kg and should not be bigger than 36cm x 23cm x 56cm. You are allowed a slimline laptop bag in addition to your hand luggage.

When travelling with an infant, who travels free under the age of 2, your allowance remains unchanged for yourself AND your infant. If your infant is older than two, and paid for its seat, then the allowance applies to each traveller.

FlyCemAir
FlyCemAir has different baggage policies for the different routes they fly. It is therefor important to check these restrictions before you book your flight with FlyCemAir.

FlyCemAir to Bloemfontein: Adults and children over 2 years are allowed 2 pieces of free checked luggage and hand luggage with a total weight of up to 31kg. A single hand luggage item is strictly limited to 6kg. Passengers travelling with infants (0-24 months) will be allowed an additional 10kg for the infant.

FlyCemAir to Margate: Adults and children over 2 years are allowed 2 pieces of free checked luggage and hand luggage with a total weight of up to 20kg. A single hand luggage item is strictly limited to 6kg; this includes ladies handbags and laptop bags. Passengers travelling with infants (0-24 months) will be allowed an additional 10kg for the infant.

FlyCemAir to Plettenberg Bay: Adults and children over 2 years are allowed 2 pieces of free checked luggage and hand luggage with a total weight of up to 20kg. A single hand luggage item is strictly limited to 6kg; this includes ladies handbags and laptop bags. Passengers travelling with infants (0-24 months) will be allowed an additional 10kg for the infant.

FlySafair
Your fare comes with a free 7kg carry on bag. This bag should not be more than 56 x 36 x 23cm. Regulations allow for you to take two pieces on board with you, the combined weight of which should not be more than 7kg.

Checked in luggage can be purchased separately. We keep our fares low by excluding the price of a bag so you can travel light and keep your wallet full. In fact, only half of our passengers actually take bags – so why charge you for something you do not need? Should you wish to add a 20kg bag to your flight, this can be selected on our Extra’s page during the online flight booking process for R150.

Heritage Day September 2015

heritage

Heritage Day is the national holiday for South Africans to celebrate their heritage and for all the foreigners to join them in this celebration. Many South Africans take (or the lucky ones get) the Friday off as well and make it an awesome 4 day weekend. Some fly to visit their family, others stay home. We, at GrabaFlight, will most likely all end up together having a big braai.

So what else can you do during this long weekend? Whats happening in the big cities that’s worth a visit, or even taking a plane.

Cape Town:

  • DHL Stormers vs. Steval Pumas Grab a ticket for the Stormers game happening at the Newlands stadium on the 26th of September.

  • Durban Street Food Festival Yum! We sure love street food here, and we get plenty of it in CPT. However if you are in Durbs, check out this great festival.
  • Shongweni Farmers and Craft Market Another one for the tummy, and the eyes. Get good food and a good bargain at the Farmers & Craft market.
  • The Garden Show Check out the all new Garden Show with Tanya Visser as the host. Not to miss for the garden lovers.

Comparing cheap flights: GrabaFlight vs. FlightSite, Tripsta, TripAdvisor & Mango Airlines

Comparing cheap flights

Finding a cheap flight is almost a day task nowadays. You need to scan and browse sites, come back again to check if the price maybe dropped a little more… and again, and again. Today we had to look up some potential flights for one of our customers. The request was to find return flights for 4 adults from Cape Town to Johannesburg OR Tambo International for the 24th of September till the 4th of October. It was quite easy for us to find availability, that was no problem. With many low cost airlines operating on that route, for example like Mango Airlines, Kulula & FlySafair.

We managed to find a flight for our customer and fortunately at quite a good price. The total price came to R6,283 and the flight times were exactly what the customer wanted. There were some cheaper flights with FlySafair, however the luggage was not included. And when you go on holiday for at least a week, we’re pretty sure you need some luggage. With FlySafair charging R150 per checked in suitcase, this would have made them a lot more expensive (although they seemed cheaper at first). Click the image below to check the flight details and pricing.

Comparing cheap flights

Now let’s start comparing cheap flights with other flight sites

We decided to help our customer a little bit and went onto some other popular travel sites and started comparing cheap flights and what the prices would be for THE EXACT SAME FLIGHT. We punched in the same details, we selected the same Kulula flights with the same times, same booking class, I’m sure you get the picture. Although the flights were all the same, wee discovered that the prices vary a lot! All sites we tried, showed a more expensive flight than GrabaFlight. Really, every one of them. We compared flights on FlightSite, Tripsta, TripAdvisor and Mango Airlines.
